Synopsis:

When Zed goes to planet Xandria to demonstrate his invention in front of the galaxy's hierarchy, something goes wrong, terribly wrong. Meet a most unusual cast of characters including: Krah, the loudest band in the universe, Maxuss, a sadistic tyrant, Macku and his incredible spaceship, and our unlikely hero Zed who gets caught in a deadly chain of traumatic events. An intense sci-fi series that will make you laugh one second and shock you the next.

Review:

Zed is a stellar graphic novel. The artwork and story are absolutely spellbinding. The main subjects of Zed are faith and war. These are tough topics for any writer, but Gagne handles them with humor. Gagne also has a talent for telling a story with just a picture. Zed really was amazing to experience. But, if this graphic novel was in color, some parts would have been a little gruesome for my taste. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone that needs a good laugh.

5 stars to Zed for making me think about my part in the universe.

And I am almost positive that as long as you are signed in to Netgalley.com, you can get this book without having to be approved. The ONLY down thing for me was that the file is in .acsm format, so you have to download another Adobe program to read it on you computer. Really not that big of a deal, so go check it out!! Blogiversary & Giveaway!

Hello all!
Welcome to my First Blogiversary!
Thanks for being here with me.

My first year in blogging has been such an amazing experience. I have learned so much and met so many great people that love books like me. The whole community has been kind and accepting and I truly appreciate all of you and every bit of feedback I get from you. I love interacting with people and book people are the best people!

When I first started blogging I thought it would just be a fun way to organize and catalog my books. Then I realized I really loved creating things for my blog not only for me, but for other people too.  I have gone from Zero to almost 400 GFC followers  since January 25, 2012. That is amazing to me. On my blog, Thinks Books, I have 61 Linky followers, 40 E-mail subscribers and 52 Networked Blogs followers. You can find me on Twitter @ThinkAThought, where I have 400+ followers. I am also on Facebook at Thinks.Books.Official and I have 238 likes.

I wanted to celebrate my year by going back
 and highlighting the happenings at
Thinks Books.

So, here we go...

My very first post was January 25, 2012.
Totally Team Jem.

I reviewed Divergent by Veronica Roth. Totally amaze-balls!

I started volunteering at the library. During some downtime, I picked up The Iron King by Julie Kagawa and immediately fell in love with The Iron Fey series. I also read Cinder by Marissa Meyer that month and it was amazing too.

April 2012
Best Book of April 2012 I read: Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

May 2012
I reviewed Insurgent by Veronica Roth. Equally as amaze-balls as Divergent! But the rest of the books I reviewed that month didn't do very well for me.

June 2012
I participated in my first Book Tour. It was for Pandora's Key by Nancy Richardson Fischer.

July 2012
I created a weekly meme, Think Out Loud. I premiered with a piece entitled "Perfume."
My favorite Think Out Loud to date was Think Out Loud #6, posted August 19, 2012 entitled Neil Gaiman.

August 2012
I participated in the Stop E-Piracy Blog Tour. My post featured a Pro Piracy article from the controversial Michael Cargill.
Also participated in the launch of Pledged (Soul Wars Saga #1) by Gwynneth White. I posted 5 posts in total for this tour and boy was it worth it! For participating, I was entered into a drawing to win a Kindle Fire. I WON! I could not believe it but it was completely true and I love it! Thanks Swallow Press and Gwynneth!

September 2012
I received the One Lovely Blogger Award!

October 2012
Another great Think Out Loud #14 (Oct 14, 2012) - Hot Neville is born.
I reviewed Every Day by David Levithan. I still need help with that ending!

November 2012
I signed up for my first 2013 Challenge! The 2013 Genre Variety Challenge.
I discovered Netgalley. My first approved book was Rape Girl by Alina Klein.

December 2012
Best Book of December that I reviewed: Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloane.
Also, Think Out Loud turned 25 on Dec 31, 2012

January 2013
The first post of 2013 was called Retrospect: 2012. It is a list with covers of the 35 books that got 5 stars from me in 2012. Check it out, let me know if we like the same stuff!
I was so lucky to get to participate in the Cover Reveal for Fire Country by David Estes.
Reviewed my 2nd Netgalley book, Nexus by Ramez Naam.

Now for the fun stuff.
I am giving away $25 worth of books
from The Book Depository!
Which makes this Giveaway International.
May the odds be ever in your favor!

Teaser Tuesdays #10: Fire Country by David Estes

Welcome to Teaser Tuesdays!
A weekly meme hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading.

Just open a book to a random page
and share two sentences (no spoilers).
Be sure to include title/author info for
other interested readers.
Then put your link in the comments on Miz B's blog.
That  simple!

Currently Reading:

by David Estes

In a changed world where the sky bleeds red, winter is hotter than hell and full of sandstorms, and summer's even hotter with raging fires that roam the desert-like country, the Heaters manage to survive, barely.

Due to toxic air, life expectancies are so low the only way the tribe can survive is by forcing women to procreate when they turn sixteen and every three years thereafter. It is their duty as Bearers.

Fifteen-year-old Siena is a Youngling, soon to be a Bearer, when she starts hearing rumors of another tribe of all women, called the Wild Ones. They are known to kidnap Youngling girls before the Call, the ceremony in which Bearers are given a husband with whom to bear children with.

As the desert sands run out on her life's hourglass, Siena must uncover the truth about the Wild Ones while untangling the web of lies and deceit her father has masterfully spun.

The Teaser:

"The marked are an enigma. I like the word, and it most certainly applies here."

I just love the writing of David Estes!
I am about a quarter of the way through
this book and I am already loving it!!

Fire Country will officially be released
Feb 1st, 2013.

Think Out Loud #28: Liebster Award

Hello all!
Time for another edition of
Think Out Loud, full guide HERE.
This week I want to talk about something very special.
Something that has been passed around
with really no knowledge of its origin.
Yes folks, I am talking about the infamous
Liebster Blog Award!
Have seen these pics on blogs before?

If so, that blog has been chosen by one of its
peers and been given a very high honor.
Yes, some people say it is just chain letter spam garbage.
And everyone has their own opinion. LoL
I think it is a wonderful way to get to learn more about other bloggers
and to pay forward some love and respect for their work.

I got a comment today, on my Review of Nexus, from
I have been awarded a THIRD

(I made this! Feel free to take and use.)

Anyways,
I finally thought to myself,
"Self. What exactly is the Liebster Award?"
I googled it (of course) and found a
fantastic post written by

In the post, Sopphey researched the origin of the Liebster award. Apparently, it dates back to a German blog as of December 19, 2010. So, the Liebster Award has been around for over 3 years. Must be doing something right!
Basically, Liebster is a word of German origin that is a term of endearment. It can be translated as dearest, beloved, sweetest, kindest, etc... you get it... like most AWESOME EVER!
This is the most interesting thing I learned from what Sopphey Says: It seems the numbers have been skewed a bit. For the Liebster I just got nominated for, I am suppose to nominate ELEVEN more people with under 200 followers. According to the origin, it is 3-5 nominees with under 3000+ followers. That is a HUGE difference. Plus answer 11 questions AND give 11 facts. Whew! That's a lot of work people.

I have decided to answer the 11 questions that Curry Belle presented to me because that is the fun part! BUT, I am only going to nominate 3 people and ask 3 questions. So, basically I am going back to the original numbers. I am officially hitting RESET on the Liebster Award to restore the honor to receiving it. I would rather people be excited than feel burdened.

Here are the questions that Curry Belle has asked of her nominees. They are some great questions!

1. What is your current profession and do you enjoy it?
Well, my current dream is to start working with authors to digitally format their work for publishers such as Smashwords and Amazon. I've only done one, but always looking for more experience. If you are an author and need some formatting help in exchange for a reference for my skills (FREE), just email me at think.think.80@gmail.com.

2. What genre do you like to read?
Mostly fiction, but sometimes I will read a memoir. I like Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Contemporary, and especially anything Young Adult.

3. If you could sit down and have tea with anyone (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
Easy answer! Amanda Palmer. Best business-woman/lead singer/piano smashing/ukulele slaying/awesome pure soul like EVER. You may have heard of her for making OVER $1 MILLION DOLLARS during her Kickstarter Campaign. Her record, Theatre is Evil, also debuted at #10 on the Billboard Music Charts! I want to meet her because her and her music have been there for me since 2005. I have watched her evolve from The Dresden Dolls to Amanda Fucking Palmer. It is an amazing experience to watch and artist mature like that. I have never met AFP and will probably never get the chance and that makes me sad. :(

4. Why did you start blogging?
Goodreads gets a lot of the credit. I started finding people that had book blogs. Then I realized it was not only a great way to meet people to talk about books (which is hard in Oklahoma lol), but a very visual way of expressing myself and also a fantastic recording method for what I read and review. So, I started blogging because it seemed challenging and like a lot of fun. It has definitely been both.

5. What book(s) would we find on your nightstand and how long have they been there?
Oh wow. Trick question? My Kindle Fire is what is on my nightstand most of the time. I don't even want to think about how long some of my TBR ebooks have been trapped on there!

6. If you could revise any book what would it be?
The Princess Bride. I would totally replace the original Father in the book with the Grandpa character from the book.

7. Share your favorite quote.
"My method is uncertain. It's a mess, but it's working." Please, Please, Please by Fiona Apple (Song)

8. What inspires you to write your blog?
Interacting with people and being creative. Love that!

9. How did friends/family react when you told them about your blog?
Well, when I first started talking about it in front of my mom, she had no idea what a blog was. So I showed her my blog. She LOVED it. She always ask about it and I show her my newest posts. She is just amazed and what can be done with a community of readers on the internet. She was especially pleased when I won a Kindle Fire and gave it to her!

10. If you could, how much would you charge people to view your blog?
I would not charge them anything.

11. Who cultured your love of literature?
I would say myself. Noone else in my family likes to read. LoL. Ever since I started reading I have carried a book around with me. And I always picked out my own books. So yeah, me!

Whew! That wasn't that bad, was it?

Here are the 3 blogs that I now bestow the Liebster Award upon!

1. Dark Obsession Chronicles - Alana is a book pimp!
3. Blog of Erised - Ula has an awesome Dystopian Challenge going on for 2013!

And the 3 questions...
1. What is your favorite part of blogging?

2. How much time do you spend on your blog per week
between reading/reviewing/blogging and networking?

3. What are the 3 blogs you just HAVE to keep up with?

Bonus Question: If you were in danger, which
fictional character would you want
to come to your rescue?

Q: Who is your favorite villian from a book?

Oh wow! This is a tough one...
Valentine Morgenstern from City of Bones? Maybe...
President Snow from The Hunger Games? Very big chance...
The Government in any dystopian novel? Most probable...
But what kind of honest person would I
be if I didn't say my favorite villian is
of course, Voldemort.
I almost said Tyler Durden from Fight Club, too. LoL

Q: If you could choose one supernatural being/creature to really exist, what would it be and why?

Well, some people would argue these already exist, but I would be way more convinced if I knew for a FACT that these beings/creatures existed. I would choose
ANGELS.

I would really love concrete proof that there is good in the world and that there is something positive after death.

Sorry, a little morbid, but was the first thing that popped into my head. If angels don't count, then I choose SHADOWHUNTERS.

Don't forget to check out the other blogs on the hop!
