When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade—a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls.

Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they’ve closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.

Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers.

Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind.

The Maze Runner has been collecting dust on my shelf for like 2 years now! I have been wanting to read this series for so long and just kept putting it off. Well, NO longer! I made up my mind that I am going to read this series and I am so glad I did!

The Maze Runner is a top notch adventure full of surprises. I thought the writing was excellent and the characters drew me in immediately. The plot always had me guessing. I think Chuck was perhaps my favorite character. He was just so innocent and pure of heart!

The story of The Maze Runner begins with Thomas. His name is the only solid memory he has to hold on to as he realizes he is in a giant metal box with no idea where it is going. Eventually, we discover the new home for Thomas is called the Glade. The Glade is home to many young boys whose memories are conveniently erased. All of them have showed up in the box, once a month since they can remember, for the last 2 years. The Glade is basically ran by Alby, one of the oldest in the Glade. The biggest aspect of the Glade is the Maze. The Maze has never been solved and no one has ever survived in the Maze at night. Yet...

Anyways, the day after Thomas shows up, a message appears in the form of a girl brought up in the Box. This message kicks off a chain of events that had me flipping pages like a mad woman! From there, well, you will have to read to find out! haha

I really loved this book and tore through it. Next, is The Scorch Trials! I'm so excited!

5 stars to The Maze Runner!
