The fight for survival begins.

An ancient prophecy warns of a girl destined to cause the extinction of the vampire race.

So when 17-year-old Axelia falls into a sacred well filled with blood and emerges a vampire, the immortal empire believes she is this legendary destroyer. Hunted by soldiers and mercenaries, Axelia and her reluctant ally, the vampire bladesmith Lucas, must battle to survive.

How will she convince the empire that she is just an innocent teenager-turned bloodsucker and not a creature of destruction? And if she cannot, can a vampire who is afraid of bugs summon the courage to fight a nation of immortals?

What Kills Me was just such a wonderful surprise! I signed up to review this book through Making Connections, a group on Goodreads, in exchange for an honest review. And I can honestly say this book was perfect.

There was one little thing that is driving me nuts though… why not a series? I want more! This was such a rich and hearty story served up with the perfect mixture of action, suspense, great characters, fantastic world building and everything else that makes a great novel. The twists were all in the right spots. The turns magnificently brilliant.

The first few chapters, Alexia "Zee", is just a normal silly girl. Until she meets Paolo and walks into his trap. Then Zee's character transitioned into a brave, competent woman over the course of the novel. I can't say much more, because I would end up spoiling everything for you. I highly recommend this book, so go check it out!

5 stars to What Kills Me.
