Goodreads Synopsis: One choice can transform you--or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves--and herself--while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.
Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable--and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

My Review:

“Insurgent” was a perfect read! Honestly, I could probably stop the review right there because the majority of people who will read this blog have already read it! Oh well, I guess it never hurts to have another opinion floating around in cyber-land. So, here I go…

The world that Roth has built is mesmerizing as well as terrifying. I could completely visualize the destruction and chaos of what was left of their world. The situations that the characters find themselves in are treacherous to say the least. This book definitely does NOT lack action. I could not stop reading just to find out what would happen to all the characters. Speaking of characters, I would have to say that I really enjoy Tris. She is so vulnerable, yet so strong when the need presents itself. She repeatedly surprises herself and the people around her with her ability to lead. Even when those she trusts turn against her, she stays strong and fights for what is right. Yes, of course, she sometimes just wants to run and hide, but she never does. That is why I love Tris. And I love Four because he is smart enough to love Tris! I knew the ending would be a cliffhanger, but the way Roth dropped a bomb in the last few sentences was just insanely brilliant.

“Insurgent” gets 5 stars for living up to the hype!
